This bed is an alternative for a larger platform bed in a small room. Easy to assemble, but weighs 156 lbs, so get help to move it. This is my sister's bed, a much-needed upgrade from a couch-recliner. The frame is larger than a standard adult-size twin mattress, leaving a 3" gap on 1 side and at the foot. Looks great, extra storage space wonderful. Most importantly my sister is happy!

My daughter just turned 13 and wanted her own style to her bedroom. She knew she wanted a Captain's bed/Mates bed and a bookcase headboard. I knew I didn't want to spend $1,000. I'm glad I found Merchantila. We shopped several stores locally and many more online. Most places didn't have a wide selection of styles or colors. And when we did find something she liked, they lacked matching extras, like a desk or side table. Merchantila was the ONLY place I found online and retail that had everthing she wanted. The pieces were easy to put together and the instructions were very clear. The only issue we have is the drawer guides do not line up, causing some crookedness. But this is so minor that my daughter didn't even notice. What I cannot figure out is why the drawer space is so small. Even on a twin bed, there's enough space to have drawers on both sides or at least an open storage area. [...]

This is a great bed that should last 'til my child is out of the house. The headboard option is helpful for small room storage. Assembly directions were OK, but the screw holes were absent or misplaced in a couple of pieces. Make sure you have a drill on hand (and a second person to run to the hardware store for a couple missing screws).

I was looking for the best looking bed for the price, and this meets my needs. The simulated wood finish is very well done and is mistaken for solid wood. Two of the cross supports under the
bed were from a different model, and the predrilled holes were wrong, but rather than wait
for replacements, I redrilled the holes. This lengthened the assembly process, which otherwise was not difficult. Be aware that since this is manufactured wood some of the larger pieces are heavy, and the finished unit is very heavy. The only real negative are the drawers which appear to be large in the photos, but really are only four inches high, and a little over a foot deep.
Not much storage space. Otherwise, a great value.

The bed was easy to assemble and my 4-year old loves it. there was no ready made way to attach the headboard to the mate's bed. The drawers are cheaply made, but have been sturdy enough. I am not thrilled about the plastic drawer slides. The bed is particle board covered with a thin pine finish. There were a couple of spots when I first received the bed that the finish was coming up. I secured it with wood glue.
Overall it is a good, heavy bed for the price.

Service & Delivery comments:

Delivery was quick and was delivered right to the front porch. Product had a couple of scratches on the headboard. Did not complain to customer service.

My wife was amazed at the size/shape of the box and could not believe it was the bed we ordered. Being used to flat packs, I was not surprised by that. What surprised me is how well the instructions were written. I have put a lot of things like this together and mess something up because of the obsure instructions. Not so with this bed. The helpful hints made it a breeze to assemble by myself. The hardest part was moving the box.

I bought this bed for my 21 month old son. It is a great size for a kid's room. It is nice looking and affordable. It was easy to assemble. The 2 negatives for us are that it squeaks if an adult is on it and the drawers underneath are held together with wood glue. The drawers are strong enough for now, but it worries me that there are no nails or hardware holding them together. I would recommend it for a kid or in a spare room. My son loves his bed and it fits in his small room nicely.

this is a fantastic bed!! when i first saw the box, i thought if was going to be impossible to put together, but after opening it, it was one of the easiest pieces of furniture i have put together in a long time. it only took about an hour or so--i love it!!

We bought the bed, headboard and matching dresser for our 15 yr old sons room. He loves having a twin bed in his room now it gives him more floor room. The bed is sturdy and looks great.
The dresser not so sturdy but will be fine. I shopped around for a month and this was by far the best price.

when i first saw the box, i thought holy smoke--that bed will be in a million pieces--after i got the box open, the instructions were so easy to follow, my son and i had it together in about an hour--it was one of the easiest pieces of furniture i have ever assembled--i love it--i would recommend this to everyone!!

The only problem, and I did hear this from my daughter in law too... how to break up the container the bed comes in. It takes three people, much bad sweating and back pain, and an hour or more to break it down so it can be recycled. Of course the bed came in good condition, but to get it out, and then deal with the container, well, I would think twice before I did this one again.
